Dr Margaret Smith is the principal trainer at Mindfulness Trainings. She has a long and rich career history as a teacher and trainer in adult education and the corporate and community services sectors. As an experienced training professional, she can offer you training packages that promise to be informative, engaging, and dynamic in building skills for those involved. Training participants consistently testify to her exceptional abilities to involve them in the subject matter and to her warmth, humour, and sensitivity as a trainer. Margaret’s passion is to inspire others and to mutually engage with them on a learning journey.
Margaret has under-graduate and post-graduate degrees in Education, including a Master’s Degree and Ph.D. Her research and dissertations focused on Eastern and Western psychotherapeutic approaches to learning with an emphasis on the practice and application of awareness and mindfulness. She is an accredited Mental Health First Aid Trainer (Aust.), has trained and worked as a Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) trainer, and has a Diploma in Hypnotherapy and Neuro-Linguistic programming (NLP).
Margaret has been practicing mindfulness and meditation for 30 years and has explored of a range of spiritual philosophies and practices during this time, particularly those of Buddhism. For several years she lived as a contemplative in spiritual communities in both Australia and the UK. She has taught meditation and mindfulness-based therapy to individuals and small groups for many years.
Margaret has previously worked at State and National levels as a training officer in community services, and now works as an independent training consultant offering a variety of in-house training packages to the corporate and community services sectors.

Loraine Keats (aka Jitindriya) is a psychotherapist and mindfulness meditation teacher. At Mindfulness Trainings, Loraine co-teaches with Margaret on the mindfulness based trainings and leads the meditation workshops we offer. Loraine has over 30 years experience with mindfulness practice, 16 of which as a Buddhist nun, studying mindfulness, meditation, and Buddhist psychology. She has extensive teaching experience and has lived and taught internationally, in the UK, the USA, Australia, and elsewhere. Loraine has a Master’s degree in Mindfulness Based Psychotherapy from the Karuna Institute and Middlesex University in the UK, and has a private practice in Northern NSW where she lives.
Loraine is a member of the teaching faculty at AABCAP (Australian Association of Buddhist Counsellors and Psychotherapists), and is currently Director of Training for their two year professional course in Buddhism and Psychotherapy. She is a clinical member of PACFA (Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia) and is ARCAP registered.
